I visited Lakewood Ranch Oral and Facial Surgery on March 20, 2026, for a consultation regarding a failed dental implant that was placed by a dentist in Virginia. Unfortunately, the implant posts were resting on nerves, and I have lost feeling on the left side of my mouth as a result. Dr. Lyman was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. He thoroughly reviewed my situation, answered my questions, and honestly explained that surgery was not necessary and that it was unlikely I would regain feeling in the affected area. While the news was difficult to hear, I appreciated his transparency and expertise. However, my experience with the office staff was very disappointing. Two and a half months later, I called to confirm that my records had been sent to my general dentist, Watts Dental. During that call, I spoke with a receptionist named Elizabeth, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was also informed that my insurance had not been billed because the necessary information was not provided and that I owed $231. This was very frustrating because I uploaded my insurance card and driver’s license before my appointment and also provided the documentation again at check-in. The contrast between the excellent care I received from Dr. Lyman and the poor customer service I experienced afterward was disappointing. Dr. Lyman earns five stars for his professionalism and care. Unfortunately, my interaction with the front office significantly affected my overall experience.

They did their best to help feel better fast. It was a surprise revealed by the fancy x-ray machine that I had two teeth that needed extraction. Two infections. The doc presented options for the extraction procedure. Long story, I did not choose sedation due to logistical reasons. The doctor was right about the discomfort: ouch, but the pain was short lived after the teeth came out. No fun, but short. Home now relaxing. Thanks Doc. The staff was professional, compassionate and caring. I did not feel well and they knew how to help. The technology of this office is the latest. I don’t think you could do better. Thanks ladies

I had a wonderful experience getting my dental implant. The process was much easier than I expected, and everyone was friendly and made me feel comfortable. It was not painful, and I didn’t even need to take pain medication afterward. I’m very happy with the care I received and would definitely recommend them to anyone needing dental implant work.
